How Dulcolax® works
When you’re constipated you feel uncomfortable, bloated and unable to relax. So, it’s important to choose a laxative that’s not only effective, but is gentle on your body and without unpleasant side effects. Each Dulcolax® Tablet has what we call a "Comfort Coating". This simply means that it has a coating that prevents it from being dissolved until it reaches your colon (the lower part of your digestive system). Once there, the "Comfort Coating" dissolves, releasing Dulcolax®'s active ingredient (Bisacodyl) right where it's needed.
Helping to restart your body's natural rhythm
The active ingredient in Dulcolax®'s popular and effective formula relieves constipation by stimulating the colon. This helps your body restart its natural rhythm gently.
Effective overnight
Dulcolax® tablets become effective in 6-12 hours; taking them before bedtime usually gives relief from constipation the next morning. Always read the information in the Dulcolax® pack carefully, and if you have any questions ask your doctor or Pharmacists.
The history of Dulcolax®
In the late 1940s constipation was often associated with poor living conditions aggravated by a shortage of food and medicine. In 1952, Boehringer Ingelheim developed Dulcolax® heralding a new generation of gentle yet effective laxatives that contained bisacodyl.
In the 70s a new liquid format was launched with the active ingredient Sodium Picosulfate, known as Laxoberal® Liquid , which has the same effectiveness as Dulcolax.
In the 00s Dulcolax® brought a new and discreet micro-capsule product to the market - the Dulcolax® Perles.
Nowadays Dulcolax® is recognized by health specialists and consumers all over the world, and has established itself as one of the most trusted, reliable and effective of laxative brands.
The Dulcolax® family of gentle yet effective laxatives
